However, for Joel Frey, it's a goal. As a staff of one, he can relate personally to each customer, with business often leading to friendship. Lancaster County barns, he brings new life to old timber. With styles ranging from modern to rustic, he consistently turns out artistic and innovative pieces-all without a staff behind him. "No one cares more about the customer and the quality of workmanship than the owner whose name is on the line," he explains. However, don't think this equates to strictly small projects. While Frey is known for his custom furniture, his recent project is slightly larger. As the contractor of a 60-acre horse farm, he's currently building 3 miles of fencing and a 6,400-square-foot barn.
