They can't cure someone's illness, but they can give them the hope to keep fighting. They take care of everything from travel expenses to medical care to lost wages. Founded in 1938, the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic is the oldest clinic in the world devoted to the comprehensive care of children with clefts and other craniofacial differences. It also was the first to develop a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate. Wider community support of the Clinic has always been necessary as they are committed to treating all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Today they strive to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of 2,500 patients from across Central PA. cleftclinic.org 76 figlancaster.com The burden of battling a life-altering diagnosis does not fall solely on the shoulders of the patient, but on the caregivers and loved ones as well.
