Growing up in the specialty-food business, the brothers
developed discerning palates, helping to purvey the best of
domestic and imported meats and cheeses aimed at delighting
customers and making gatherings special. Their European
travels and life in cities at once expanded and refined their taste,
helping them hone in on a shared vision of gathering the greatest
gastronomical provisions in one place.
A second floor chef's table will serve as a private tasting room
for intimate gatherings.
To their surprise, the physical location for that vision brought
them back home to open Hunger-N-Thirst amid Lancaster's
booming beer culture. Their aim is to offer their tasty artisanal
discoveries and surprising pairings to their community to sample
on-site in their craft beer taproom and gastropub, or to take
home from their specialty-food store and take-out bottle shop.
"I can't wait to try pairing new things that come out of the
kitchen with our extensive selection of craft beers and artisanal
spirits," says Andrew. "With everything we taste, our knowledge

experience to run the specialty-food store.
This frees up the brothers to experiment with their food and
drinks in a renovated warehouse, which echoes the city itself.
The industrial bones of the space are warmed with great slabs
of polished sycamore lining the bar and tables just as the trees
line the Conestoga River. Local craftsmen created the copper
countertop, distressing the surface to a cozy finish.
"We're trying to import some flavor into the local community
and promote Lancaster to a larger audience," says David, who
sees the venture as a tourist draw as well as a local hot spot,
especially with its outdoor garden seating in the summer.
"We're passionate about discovering what tastes great."
